Note
In Persian, Eiwān designates a vaulted, open space, drawing a large arch and adorned with calligraphic, geometric shapes and inlaid with glazed ceramics. As a child, during a trip to Isfahan, I was amazed by the beauty of the Aali qapu Palace. The relief decoration of the music room ensures special acoustics, allowing the most subtle sounds to travel through the space without any attenuation. Eiwān’s composition is strongly influenced by this sound, echoic image. Gesture is also a driving force in the composition process of the piece. The idea is to let yourself be carried away by the force of ‘gestural substitutes’, to use a term by Philippe Leroux. Eiwān is dedicated to Maha all the children victims of war.
En persan, Eiwān désigne un espace voûté, ouvert, dessinant un grand arc et orné de formes calligraphiques, géométriques et incrustées de céramiques émaillées. Enfant, lors d’un voyage à Ispahan, j’ai été émerveillé par la beauté du palais Aliqapu. La décoration en relief du salon de musique assure une acoustique parti-
culière, permettant aux sons les plus subtils de parcourir l’espace sans moindre atténuation. La composition de Eiwān est fortement influencée par cette image sonore, échoïque. Le geste est également un élément moteur du processus de composition de l’oeuvre. L’idée est de se laisser emporter par la force des « substituts gestuels », pour reprendre un terme de Philippe Leroux. Eiwān est dédié à Maha et tous les enfants victimes de guerre.
